This week our assignment was to log in to Pinterest and pin some interesting pictures on our board there. We chose travelling as our theme. Pinterest was a fun - and very addictive - website that combines social networking and photo sharing. Indeed, we ended up pinning 67 pictures on our board! We found beautiful pictures from several different countries, such as Australia, Italy, Norway, the USA, the UK, Antarctica, Kenya, Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia and Egypt. Our reasons for choosing them were different. First of all, we are familiar with many of the places and have even visited some of them. Other pictures are of places that we haven't visited yet, but would very much like to. One reason for choosing the pictures was that they were simply aesthetically pleasing to us.
Our pictures have a lot in common. The first thing that pops out is that most of the pictures have water in them. Many pictures have a clearly visible sea or river, and there are quite a few underwater pictures too.
There are also some photos with animals, including lions, whales, elephants and a giraffe.
And finally, there are photos with some very famous landmarks.
All of the pictures, or at least the ones I found, were already on Pinterest and I just re-pinned them on our board. They appeared to be taken from other blogs and news articles originally.
I didn't think that the pictures were taken too out of context, although some pictures obviously showed only the best parts of the destination instead of showing travellers other not-so-pretty places in the area. The angles are also carefully selected.
